PASTOR JEFFERY CARPENTERAssociate Pastor Jeff Carpenter was born in a United States Army hospital in Panama. When his father’s term of service concluded the family returned to the states. His family moved frequently and so he attended grade schools, middle schools, and high schools in various states. Toward the end of his senior year, Jeff saw Nanette walking with friends between classes. After discovering that she had not yet been asked to the Senior Prom, he risked asking Nanette for the date. She agreed to the Prom Date and seven years later, after they had both earned BA Degrees from the University of Arizona, she agreed to become his wife. After they were married, Jeff announced to Nanette that a call serve the Lord as a pastor had been on his mind and in his heart for some time. The announcement was more than a surprise. Still, the vows were kept. Love prevailed and two years later they moved from Tucson Arizona to Austin Texas. There she worked for Austin Travis County MHMR while he worked to earn a Masters of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest. Shortly after settling into the Austin Seminary Life the Lord blessed them with a son, Jeffery Carpenter. With four years of seminary completed, he accepted his first call to serve as pastor. The call was to a Two-Point Parish, Olsburg Lutheran Church & Walsburg Lutheran Church, in North East Kansas. He was ordained in Kansas on June 21, 1997. Shortly after settling into the Kansas Flint Hills the Lord blessed them with a second son, Joshua Carpenter. In 2000, a call came from Bethany Lutheran Church Fredericksburg Texas. He accepted the call to serve Bethany as pastor and the family moved from the hills of Kansas to the Hill Country of Texas. Shortly after settling into the Texas Hill Country, the Lord blessed them with a third son, Jacob Carpenter. In 2006, a call came from us, St. John Lutheran Church, Boerne Texas. He accepted the call to serve us a pastor. This time the family only moved 45 miles and remained within the Texas Hill Country. No news of a fourth son. Nanette works for the State of Texas. Pastor Jeff will serve as a pastor within St. John's one pastoral office in a shared ministry. As one of our pastors, he will have responsibilities in all areas of ministry such as preaching, presiding, pastoral care, official acts and pastoral leadership. His mission & ministry emphasis with be in St. John’s Children-Youth-Adult Faith Formation. As we thank God for bringing the Carpenters to St. John, we pray for their family and for St. John Lutheran Church that we may continue to expand God’s Kingdom, grow in faith and serve to the glory of God. |
