PASTOR HENRY SCHULTESenior Pastor Henry Schulte was born in Central Texas near Waco in the Crawford community. The fourth child of Henry and Martha Schulte. He graduated from Crawford High School in 1954 and married his high school sweetheart, Frances Brown, in 1955. They have two children, David Wayne Schulte, Senior pastor Zion Lutheran Church, Helotes, Texas and Dana Kay Schulte Broddrick of Cedar Park, Texas.His first call was to the parish of the St. Paul Lutheran Churches of Shelby and Fayetteville, Texas. In 1968 he accepted the call to Highland Park Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas and served there for ten years. He was then called to serve as the Assistant to the Bishop of The Southern District of The American Lutheran Church. In 1983 he accepted the call to serve as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville, Texas. He served there for 7 years before being elected Bishop of The Southwestern Texas Synod of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In 1994 Pastor Schulte accepted the call to serve as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Boerne and continues to serve the 900 member congregation as senior pastor. Frances Schulte was born in Gatesville, Texas and grew up in McGregor, Texas graduating from McGregor High School. She earned her certification as a Lab and X-Ray Tech and worked for doctors in McGregor and Seguin. She has also worked as a secretary and as an assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs at Capital University. Here seven years of service as a special education aide proved to be most rewarding. Since 1983 Frances has been "intentionally unemployed" and has remained a full time partner to Pastor/Bishop/Pastor Henry. She loves Boerne and enjoys being a part of such a great community and community of faith.
