CHILDREN'S MINISTRYSt. John's Children's Ministry develops engaging programming in order to excite children so that they want to learn more about God. We believe that it's a SIN to bore children with the Bible. Biblical stories are exciting and need to be brought to life in a way that is fun and engaging. Our programs meet the needs of children during the different stages of their faith development. In Sunday school the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children are taught using Group Publishin g's Hands-On-Bible curriculum. This curriculum is adapted for this age groups shorter attention span by engaging them in a wide variety of activities, this allows them to fully experience the Bible lesson. Their classrooms are being decorated to welcome and delight them. Classrooms include "Father Abraham's Tent" which is a beautiful tented room where they learn music and watch videos. First thru Fifth graders enjoy rotational Sunday school where the children study the same Biblical character or Bible story over several weeks using different formats (or workshops) including drama, art, computers, games, movies, science and cooking. Each workshop is being decorated to reflect an individual theme and are exciting places for the children to come and learn God's Word. Workshops completed include "The Galaxy Theatre" - a real theatre complete with projection system, surround sound and theatre seating, "God's Gallery" - an art workshop that has paintings that depict the Creation, and "The Disciple's Diner" - a Fisher's of Men themed room where children engage in the Bible lesson by preparing food. Sixth grade students prepare for confirmation studies in the Holy Hangout through the use of topical Bible studies that use video and music that appeal to their age.
