From Pastor Carpenter's PenSome Youth Event NewsBryant Williams was installed as St John’s Director of Youth Faith Formation Ministry on Sunday June 28th. Within 2 hours he was packed and ready to travel toward the Gulf Coast for a 9th Grade beach retreat. (The retreat was facilitated by our very own Cross Trails Ministry. Evin Schuchardt was even one of our singing/bible teaching camp counselors!) While in Port Aransas, our youth enjoyed morning and evening worship, morning and evening Bible study time, service and evangelism time, and of course… beach time. They returned to Boerne on July 3rd.
About a week later, 7th & 8th graders began a long and exciting trip to Sky Ranch Lutheran church camp. Sky Ranch is located about 1.5 hours north west of Fort Collins Colorado at 9,000 ft elevation. Yes, the Church bus’ brakes needed repair… Yes, the air conditioner quit working… Still, the camp experience was wonderful! God’s magnificent mountains, beautiful snow fed mountain lakes & streams, pine trees, aspen trees, flowery meadows… combined with high energy morning and evening worship, Bible study, and prayerful reflection. The experience was a gift to all. Four days later, 10th -12 graders headed off toward New Orleans for a National Youth Gathering. 35,000 Lutheran Christians from around the country gathered for worship, fellowship, service, and fun. The day after our senior high youth return, senior high youth will lead a Vacation Bible School for older children- called Summer Celebration: July 27th -30th. That week is capped off by what is called “Secret Sabbatical.” July 31st – August 1st.I’d tell you more, but it’s a… SECRET. Because Bryant has been away with our young ones almost every day since he arrived, he has not had much time to share his story in writing. So I write on his behalf. Thanks for your prayers and your assistance to make faith ministry come to life. |
